Read Case Study 2) - Needing a larger home Case Study 2 Names: David and Kellie Situation: We had outgrown our home and were wanting more room. Ten years ago I had lent my father some money and his way of paying me back was to give us the proceeds from the sale of a rental property. Experience: So, we want to get a bigger home and we have two homes to sell. David went to High School with his friend 'Brian'. Brian was a full time banker and a part time Realtor, yet Brian was willing to work a deal with us. If he charged us a reduced rate of commission on the sale of the two properties he would take a full commission on the new house we bought. It sounded good for us and him. Four months later both properties were sold and we were living in a one room guest house of my mother's. All four of us (a 6 and 3 year old). Then another two months went by, still Brian had not found a house for us. I had some very specific things I wanted in a home, but not unrealistic. Six months was long enough, I called Mike on a Wednesday and told him he was now officially our Realtor. He called back an hour later to make an appointment to show us property the next day. I was ready for another long and tedious touring of homes. We saw four homes. The fourth home scared me, because it was everything I had been asking for. EVERYTHING. Our six month search had ended.
